I am a huge fan of detective shows. I love to watch the Law-and-Order series (SVU is my favorite), old episodes of Columbo, Perry Mason and Monk. The characteristics in common with all these shows is to find out “who dunnit”. First, the characters portraying detectives or law enforcement gather information. They then uncover the facts to provide detailed information about a particular suspect or case and in 60 minutes or less, they solve the crime.
Owning a cat, or should I say being owned by a cat, is a lot like being a detective, especially if your cat is exhibiting behavior that is not the norm or uncommon for your feline. As a cat owner, it is up to you to gather information, uncover the facts and provide detailed information about a particular case, or should I say behavior. However, it may take you longer than 60 minutes to solve the case, or the behavior issue.
It is important that you become aware of what is considered normal behavior for your cat. When abnormal behavior strikes, you now become your cat’s advocate. You are his or her voice when behavior becomes abnormal. You are the cat’s translator so to speak, especially if your cat needs to see a veterinarian. The more detailed information you have about your cat’s behavior, the easier it can be for your veterinarian to gather the facts to find out what is wrong with your cat if a sudden illness strikes.
As a Catvocate, you play a pivotal role in making sure your cat is healthy and happy.
